Possible Humans

 Curiosity. Courage. Endurance.

Annapurna II, Nepal

What has happened to you matters. What happens next is not yet written.

Your story isn't finished.

You may not have chosen how it began, or everything that has happened along the way.
.
But you still have a voice in what comes next.

Possible Humans
is about finding the
compassion, curiosity, courage, and strength to write the next chapter of your life.

My name is John Emerson Clark.

I live in the mountains of western Colorado.

I have been a Navy pilot, teacher, and professor.

I transformed myself from an obese 20-year-old into an Ironman Finisher at age 59.

I have weathered crippling depression.

I earned a doctorate in education and researched how critical self-beliefs affect people's lives.

I have trekked through the valleys of Nepal, New Zealand, Patagonia, and Australia.

I am a humanitarian.

I support an orphanage in Nepal's Langtang Valley and two little girls, one in Kathmandu and the other in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

I am insanely curious.

I am a writer.

Photographer.

Trekker.

And, recently, a fledgling piano student.

And most importantly,

I see you.

You matter to me.

Every Saturday, I send out a letter -
 "Possible Humans: Field Notes."

Each one contains one story, one insight, one practice, and one question to help you write the story you deserve.

One story
One insight
One practice
One question

It's free.
I love writing it.

I have known what it feels like to lose control of your life.

I am a writer.

A trekker.

And, recently, a fledgling piano student.

And most importantly,

I am deeply empathic and curious about the lives we all lead. The life YOU lead.

I want to see you. I want to learn your story.

And I want you to write your own story.

You matter to me.
